How does London Centre for SME Development collect personal data?
How and why we use your data
London Centre for SME Development is a joint venture from North London Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise (NLCEE) and Middlesex University. The aim is to facilitate opportunities for SME’s in London to connect, network, share knowledge and grow. We do this through a series of events, meetings, workshops and thought leadership sessions. To enable us to do this we need the ability to contact you through various channels such as email and event invitations. We hold a database which holds basic information about you and your business, such as address and contact details. This list is managed jointly and separately by NLCEE and Middlesex University.
London Centre for SME Development collects personal information from you both directly and indirectly.
Occasions when information is collected directly include:
Requesting our benefits and services by email, or filling out a sign-up form, either online or on paper
Registering and attending an event

We will only ever share your data with third parties for the following reasons, or reasons specified to you elsewhere in this privacy notice.
If you sign up online your details will be registered with Squarespace, our third party newsletter provider
If we undertake data cleansing activities to maintain the integrity of the data we hold

to require us to correct the personal data we hold about you if it is incorrect

Please note that the above rights are not absolute, and we may be entitled to refuse requests where exceptions apply.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Regulator the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe you request has not been dealt with properly or you have a complaint to raise against the University for any other data protection related issue. A complaint can be raised via the ICO’s website.
You also have the right to withdraw consent from the processing of your personal data by the University at any time, if your consent was sought initially to use your personal data.
How long is your data held?
We will keep basic details, contact details, records of your communication preferences, event attendance and a record of any interaction you have had with London Centre for SME Development indefinitely.
We will undertake data cleansing on a periodic basis, in an attempt to ensure that the data we do hold about you is up to date.
Right to rectify or to stop processing
If you believe London Centre for SME Development holds information about you that is factually incorrect, or you would like to request that we stop processing your data please email us email@example.com and we will update your records accordingly, or if you have any other concerns, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
